The rule of thumb is one square foot of pool would need one square foot of collector.  Prevailing winds, shading, and orientation will effect this rule.

The pool water can be drawned into the solar heater using the pool's circulating pump, or, use a photovoltaic array to power a DC pump.

Owner reports allowing the pool water temperature to rise into the 90 degree range. Very comfortable in our colder than normal summer(2009)! Owner is saving over $11.00 per day.
