Solar Domestic Water Heating
In a solar thermal water heating system, a nontoxic biodegradable antifreeze solution is pumped through a closed-loop copper line between the solar thermal collectors, where the fluid is heated by the sun, and a heat exchanger in your solar storage tank. This is where the heat is transferred to your potable water supply.
The solar storage tank stores at least a day's worth of heated water. The system is arranged so when you draw water out of your water heater, solar heated water flows into your water heater (as opposed to cold city or well water). Now, your water heater does not have to draw fossil fuel to put fire to the water.
GreenSky designs solar water systems to heat a storage tank of water in 4 hours of sunlight, and you may not even be home when the sun is shining, but solar heated water will be waiting for your return!
A DC pump is powered by a small photovoltaic panel. With this combination of solar thermal collector and solar electric panel, this is a 100 percent sun powered device and GreenSky specializes in this perfect combination system.

Solar Radiant Heating
A radiant heating system expands on this idea - you can heat your entire house on solar power by preheating the return line of your in-floor heating system. One such customer has reported high 70 degree temps in the basement, at the same time, 160 temps in his 400 gallon solar storage tank. The furnace does not run nights after sunny conditions.

Solar Forced Air
Solar collector panels can also be used to heat air. This device very simply draws air from your house into the collectors where it is heated by the sun. A blower then draws the heated air back into your house. Small PV panels are then used to power the blower eliminating the need for purchasing electricity from the utility. GreenSky can design a solar air heating system that best fits your desire and circumstance.
