Commercial Water Heating Systems

Manitowoc Rapids, Wisconsin

Manitowoc Rapids, Wisconsin

These dual five collector arrays primary function is to heat the water used to wash cars. The system also heats the spot-free rinse, as well as supporting the in floor heating system of the entire building. Now that is a heavy load!

This system is designed as a drain back. When the 500 gallon solar storage tank reaches the desired temperature of 140 degrees, the solar fluid is allowed to drain out of the collectors and into a separate holding tank. This is to prevent the solar fluid from overheating in a situation such as a car wash, when less summertime heating is needed.

This 6 panel solar water heating system was installed at Hidden Valley Farm & Woolen Mill, a local fiber mill in Valders, WI. They use a high volume of hot water for washing out the raw fiber before it is processed.

Lisa's Laundry Land is the only environmentally hot water friendly laundromat in the state of Wisconsin. This drainback system sports 2 storage tanks.

*New information. Wisconsin Assemblyman Ted Zigmunt toured the laundromat  today  (9/11/09) and found out Mr. Simac - a constituent in his district - was exceedingly happy with his fuel savings and emission reduction from the GreenSky-installed solar thermal collectors. The Assemblyman was also surprised to learn just how simple this device transfers heat from the sun into our lives.

**You should have seen the adventurous look in his eyes as I directed him to the ladder to get up on to the roof and get a close look at the solar collectors. :-)

He had a high opinion of my statement that our business model was creating jobs paid for by future energy savings.
