With most of the world’s existing oil fields in a production decline, and many of the rest controlled by foreign governments exhibiting hostile intentions towards the United States, it’s all too clear that we need to lower our dependence on imported oil. Many – including GreenSky – believe that nuclear energy can be a part of the energy-shortage solution as it is, but the exorbitant costs and long lead times needed to drive these complicated solutions for the future are too little, too late. Also, the return on nuclear energy investments is small and payback is incalculable with the unknown additional costs of repairs and spent fuel storage.

What about ethanol? In our opinion, ethanol not only uses far too much energy in its making, the overplanting of corn destroys the tilth in our soil, aggravating the soil in such a way that it renders the soil useless for crop reproduction for generations to come. Consider the Fertile Crescent -- a land that once was a bountiful soil feeding many, has virtually turned into a desert wasteland.
